Cooking Ruby on Rails with AJAX spices

Technologies are changing day by day and by the time you learn something new its already old out there. Likewise, it has been a long time since we heard of Ruby on Rails framework but just didn’t have time to take it to the next level. This time, we got serious. We are now working on a demo project which involves Ruby on Rails along with AJAX. Its pretty exciting to see how simple a web application can be. We will soon be updating the application online as a demo.

If you also want to get your feet wet with RoR, please take a look at their website – http://www.rubyonrails.com/

    WordPress Captcha integration

It had been quite annoying that by default installation of WordPress for blogs there was no security for comments and we have been getting quite a number of junks from spammers. I wanted to implement a word verification security while people post comments. My initial impression was that I will have to add codes on the pages which was bit of a nightmare. Nevertheless, I did a quick Google. To my surprise, It was a quick and easy fix.

The plugin name is known as Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam Image Plugin for WordPress. All you have to do is download a zip file, unzip it and the folder (which contains a script file and fonts) on your /wp-content/plugins folder on the server and activate the plugin from the Plugins section of the WordPress admin panel.

Yes, it was that easy! You can see it implemented on our comments section, try to post a comment. So, if you are having a headache fighting with spammers on your blog, this might be just helpful as was for us. Say BYE BYE to spammers!!

My view on preventing your blog going down the tube after bunches of nasty, vulgar related comments stick to your site? Stop using this and that just turn on the comment moderation. Its your site. Its your page rank. You have the power to make sure only comments come not spam!

Do you really want to go through 1000s of comments that are moderated and check all those to see the genuine comments after a week? By default, Wordpress does not have CAPTCHA validation so and that was annoying us. Installing a simple word verification has solved all our tensions and problems.

      Thanks for the comment though!
