Applying for a Web Designer or Programmer Job

If you are applying for a job as web designer or programmer, a few things you might want to consider:

  1. Please make your resume neat and a bit unique, if possible. Here, in Nepal and parts of South Asia, I have had the honor of reading/scrutinizing/agonizing over carbon copy IT resumes (CV) with same dull format and not even properly formated. A turn off from the start. You want to make a change, Show the change you want to be (from the very start).
  2. Employers are interested in your Job Experience, much more than your education and which school/university you went to. In Information Technology Communication Field, try build up a few rounds of experience by interning at small web design or web application building firm or if that is hard to find, build a website or build something yourself.
  3. Sound confident in your cover letter but also humble enough so that the person on the other side would want to short list you to the candidates s/he wants to interview.

More on interviews later.
